WHY BAREFOOT & UNBOUND

Barefoot & Unbound (4)_edited.jpg

Many women in business are doing meaningful work — and doing it quietly, largely on their own.

There’s the constant polishing of our stories.

The pressure to perform confidence.

The sense that we should have it figured out by now.

And underneath it all, a quieter longing:

for real conversation, shared wisdom, and a way of growing that doesn’t require more hustle or harder edges.

Barefoot & Unbound begins here — by naming what’s true.

What if growth didn’t require more effort — but more connection?

RENEE BARON

Guide for Women in Nature & Business • Yoga & Meditation Teacher •  Retreat Creator

Renée Baron brings over 25 years of experience in education, outdoor leadership, and facilitation — work that began in her teens and has grown into a deeply relational, nature-based approach to learning and growth.

At 17, she joined a two-month canoe expedition along the west coast of British Columbia, discovering the joy of shared experience, teamwork, and immersive learning. This early adventure continues to shape how she shows up and guides others into spaces of exploration, connection, and clarity.

With a Master’s in Education focused on Environmental Education, and experience as an outdoor educator, wilderness and sea kayak guide, and yoga and meditation teacher, Renée creates experiences that are grounded, transformative, and restorative. She supports women in stepping out of isolation, reconnecting with their inner clarity and resilience, and taking aligned action in both life and business.

WHY WE CREATED BAREFOOT & UNBOUND

Barefoot & Unbound was born from a shared recognition: that many women in business are building incredible things — but often in isolation, under pressure, and disconnected from the kind of support that truly sustains growth.

Through our work, we’ve seen how much becomes possible when women are given space to slow down, be honest about where they are, and be met without judgment or expectation. Not in a room full of competition or performance — but in a circle rooted in trust, curiosity, and care.

We created this retreat to offer something different.

A space where you don’t have to prove, pitch, or push.

Where collaboration replaces comparison.

Where insight emerges through conversation, reflection, and shared experience.

Together, we bring complementary lenses — therapy, coaching, education, and nature-based facilitation — to hold a space that is both grounded and expansive.

This is an invitation to step out of doing it all on your own…

and into a way of growing your business that is relational, supported, and deeply aligned.

WHO THIS IS FOR?

This retreat is for you if:

  • You’ve built something real — and still feel the weight of carrying it alone

  • You’re tired of surface-level networking and performative spaces

  • You’re holding ideas that aren’t fully formed yet

  • You want perspective, not pressure

  • You believe collaboration could be powerful, but don’t want it to feel forced or transactional

You don’t need to be “figured out.”

You just need to be willing to show up — barefoot, curious, and open.

THE CORE THEMES

Barefoot

Barefoot evokes:

  • Grounded presence

  • Equality — no hierarchy, no pedestal

  • A return to what’s real and essential

This is about meeting one another as we are — without over-polish or posturing.

Unbound

Unbound speaks to:

  • Freedom from the narrative that you have to do this alone

  • Loosening rigid strategies and expectations

  • Opening to new ways of creating and growing

Together, Barefoot & Unbound invites participants to build from truth rather than tension.

Examples of what we are doing to achieve these things

COLLABORATION AS A GROWTH STRATEGY

In this space, collaboration isn’t a compromise — it’s an expansion.

Participants are invited to:

  • Drop the armour of competition and comparison

  • Share their work honestly, without pitching or proving

  • Be seen in their real edge, curiosity, and not-yet-formed ideas

This creates the conditions where:

  • New partnerships emerge organically

  • Opportunities arise through perspective, not pressure

  • Growth feels relational, sustainable, and human

When people feel safe, they think bigger.

When they feel connected, they take braver steps.

THE DAY WILL FEEL LIKE...

Nestled beside the Browns River in the Comox Valley, the Riverside Studio provides a calm, grounded setting for reflection, connection, and renewal. Guests saunter down a mossy forest path into this intentionally held space — designed to invite presence, ease, and authenticity.

Our time together includes:

  • Guided reflection and inquiry

  • Gentle somatic and grounding practices

  • Meaningful conversation

  • Restorative experiences such as sauna and optional river dips

  • Fireside chats that invite warmth, honesty, and connection

  • Catered lunch, snacks and beverages

“Slow down, shed layers of armour, and reconnect with what matters most.”

Whether in moments of quiet contemplation, shared dialogue by the fire, or embodied reset through heat and cold, the Riverside Studio creates space to slow down, shed layers of armour, and reconnect with what matters most.

This riverside experience supports clarity, authentic connection, and aligned next steps — personally, relationally, and professionally.

RESERVE YOUR PLACE

HOW THIS SUPPORTS BUSINESS GROWTH

Practically, Barefoot & Unbound supports your work by helping you:

  • Clarify what you’re truly building beneath the noise

  • See blind spots through collective wisdom

  • Identify aligned collaborators rather than forcing connections

  • Reframe growth as relational, not isolating

The guiding question becomes:

Who do I want beside me as I build?

NOT

How do I do more on my own?
